Illegal Immigration

Porous borders endanger our homeland security and lead to a massive drain on our national and state economies, so the Alabama House Republican Caucus supports legislation that discourages illegal immigrants from setting roots in Alabama . State Rep. Micky Hammon (R – Decatur) has quickly become a respected state leader on the immigration issue and, along with several of his Republican colleagues, has proposed legislation to address the issue. Included in our Caucus agenda is a tough bill intended to stop the flow of tax dollars being exploited by illegal immigrants:

Requiring Immigrants to Prove Legal Residency Before Accessing Public Benefits by Rep. Micky Hammon (R – Decatur) – In order to ensure that those who access programs funded by taxpayer dollars are living in Alabama legally, this legislation will require immigrants to provide proof of legal residency before receiving public benefits offered by state and local governments, including in-state tuition rates for public universities.
